To coincide with the release of his new animated Netflix series of the same name, Kid Cudi dropped his new album Entergalactic today. The series, which also arrives today on the streaming platform, sees Cudi voice the character Jabari, a burgeoning artist who falls in love with his neighbor, photographer Meadow, voiced by Jessica Williams.

Cudi first teased Entergalactic back in 2020, when he previewed the project’s lead single, “Do What I Want,” on Instagram Live. In a separate IG Live that same year, Cleveland native and Entergalactic executive producer Kenya Barris explained the concept behind the LP. Each track correlates to an episode of the animated Netflix show, documenting the love story between Jabari and Meadow.

Though Cudi promises a sound similar to his early mixtapes, he says the subject matter on Entergalactic is new for him. “I think this album is my perspective on love, and people haven’t really heard that,” Cudi told Complex. “I’m not somebody who makes R&B music, and I’m not somebody who makes lovey-dovey songs like that.”

Throughout the 15-track album, Cudi enlists the help of major names like Ty Dolla $ign, 2Chainz, and Don Toliver, among others.
