Beyoncé Becomes The Most Decorated Female Artist Of All Time With Her 28th Grammy Win
She won for Best R&B Performance, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, & Best Music Video.
Beyoncé smashed yet another record on Sunday night with her 28th Grammy win, making her the most-awarded female artist of all time by the Recording Academy. She bested a record previously held by singer Alison Krauss, who has 27 career wins. Bey broke the record with a Best R&B Performance Win for her June 2020 song, “BLACK PARADE.” She now ties Quincy Jones for the second-most total Grammys for any artist, with conductor Georg Stolti holding the record with 31.
During her acceptance speech, she reflected on why she recorded the song. “As an artist I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect the time,” she said. “And it’s been such a difficult time. So I wanted to uplift, encourage, and celebrate all the beautiful Black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world.”
Bey won four total Grammys on Sunday night, including Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song with Megan Thee Stallion for “Savage Remix” and Best Music Video alongside Wizkid, SAINt JHN, and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter for “Brown Skin Girl.”
Only one of her 28 wins came in the four main categories—2010’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” with Best Song. She’s primarily racked up wins in the Pop and R&B genre categories, as well as Music Film and Music Video for her famously lavish visual albums. This year she adds two more hip-hop genre wins to go along with her 2004 Best Rap/Sung Performance trophy for “Crazy in Love.”
