Inaugural Season Opening Day 1994 The Jake Cleveland T shirt . T-shirts with this clever slogan were a popular piece of merch spotted around marinas in the 1970s. The concept for the shirt was conceived by Wally Ross, who served as the president of Hard Sails and Seaboard Marine from 1954 to 1974, and his assistant Dick Curry. The pair starting peddling the tees during Cowes Week, when many sailmakers would set up temporary shops for sailors at the regatta to have their racing sails re-cut or repaired. Hard Sails thought these funny graphic tees would be a humorous addition to their services, and many yacht enthusiasts remember seeing them worn during the early days of the Admiral’s Cup in Cowes.

This amazing t-shirt is a souvenir from a performance given by the band Meat Puppets on August 17th, 1986 at the famous Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, California. The concert was performed with the opening bands Firehose and Scratch Acid, and this commemorative shirt features a graphic similar to the one seen on the cover of the band’s 1986 EP, Out My Way. During this period, Meat Puppets were touring relentlessly and they were even playing smaller shows in bars around the Phoenix area in between tours.
